IDF release grant: how much and when?

Last checked: October 2026. Amounts change, so always confirm with the official source.

The short answer

The release grant (maanak shichrur) is cash for every month you served, if you served at least 12 months. From August 2026: about ₪692 a month for combat, ₪576 for combat support and ₪460 for others. It's paid to your bank automatically within 60 days, and you can spend it on anything.

How much do you get?

It depends on how many months you served and what kind of service you did:

Training months are paid at a lower rate. Your exact amount is in your personal area on the Directorate's website.

When is it paid?

Automatically, within 60 days of discharge. You don't need to apply. Lone soldiers get an advance within about 14 days.

What do you need to do?

Just make sure your bank details in the personal area are right, before you're discharged. Wrong details can delay the payment.

Grant or deposit?

They're two different things. The grant is yours to spend however you like, including on the trip. The deposit is only for approved things in the first 5 years.

Can I use my release grant for the trip?

Yes. You can spend the grant on anything. The deposit, though, can't be spent on a trip in the first 5 years.

I served less than 12 months. Do I get a grant?
