Unemployment pay for released soldiers

Last checked: October 2026. Amounts change, so always confirm with the official source.

The short answer

You don't get unemployment pay right after discharge. First you need to work 6 full months in your first year out. If the job then ends, you can get up to 70 days of unemployment pay.

What to do when the job ends

Register at the Employment Service on your first day without work. Pay isn't paid backwards, so register right away.

Careful: preferred work

Unemployment pay you get before preferred work can be taken off the ₪11,461 grant. Ask Bituach Leumi before you sign up for either.
